The Program has evolved from an apprenticeship program for working adults who desire to make a transition to another profession.
It is set up in 32 monthly sessions of three weekend days each, with a clinical program in the third year.

Middle Way Acupuncture Institute is a small school located 100 miles north of Seattle in Mt. Vernon, WA
Middle Way Acupuncture Institute offers a nature-based acupuncture training program, as this was the original setting from which acupuncture developed. Initially, training is geared towards the study of the natural world through the changing seasons, so that an experiential understanding of the elements as a cyclical process based on balance and harmony is developed. This, then, becomes the foundation from which the study of acupuncture proceeds.
The Middle Way Acupuncture Institute has been admitted to institutional candidacy status and is in the process of seeking accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), which is the recognized accrediting agency for freestanding institutions and colleges of acupuncture or Oriental medicine that offer such programs. ACAOM is located at 14502 Greenview Drive, Suite 300B, Laurel, MD 20708; phone 301/313-0855; fax 301/313-0912.
Graduating from a school in candidacy status confers upon the student the same benefits as graduating from a fully accredited school.
